If you've heard or seen anything about video games, chances are that you know slimes are a common occurrence and one happens to be the hero of Mini Blocks. This cheerful blue universe caters to one small little blue slime who just wants to have a nice bounce. The environments are light and more open, but there's the chance of more worlds out there due to the presence of magical glowing portals. Slimes are nothing if not curious and this blue slime is driven to bounce their way to the portals in hopes of seeking out new places to bounce and slime around.
About Mini Blocks
Blocky worlds appear frequently in gaming because they're simple, solid, and reliable shape that is easy to map out. This game is all blocks with the slime being a block that is also a blob and still looks adorable. As a result, all the levels have a structure that's easy to read and presents everything that you need to know the moment you see it. They're contained obstacle courses that you can manipulate yourself and explore with the blob. It won't test your brain like some puzzle games, but it will give you nice little problems to solve in a fun way.
How to Play
Mini Blocks is a 2D platform puzzle game about guiding a blob through levels using the mouse or keyboard. To make the blob jump, you have the C/Up Arrow/Left Mouse Button, and to trigger the blocks you've got the X/Spacebar/Right Mouse Button. The blob will automatically move in whatever direction it is facing at a constant pace. It will stop once it hits an obstacle and can change direction if you make it jump off the wall. The goal of each level is to guide the blob to the glowing blue portal placed in it. For an additional challenge, you can time yourself with the Speedrun option.
The main mechanic is being able to control the blocks. Levels will have arrangements of blue blocks that will be active or inactive. By pressing the right button, you can switch which blocks are in which state. Doing this allows you to remove obstacles, and create platforms, or walls to jump off so that the blob can continue the level. The blob will remain active while blocks are switched so timing can be a factor.
There are also hazards that the blob must avoid. They mainly take the form of bright red spikes that can be placed on any surface. If the blob comes into contact with them, it'll be destroyed and you'll need to start the level again.
Tips and Tricks
Since the blob will move on its own, always check where it spawns and if it can move safely while unattended. The blob can jump quite high meaning that it's possible to reach new levels from the right position to get past certain sections. Take extra caution when wall-jumping around spike areas since the blob will slide.
