Buscaminas Minesweeper is one of the earliest forms of computer game. It’s unusual in that it isn’t based on any real-world game, like Solitaire – it’s a pure logic game whose predecessors date all the way to the 1960s. There are dozens of Minesweeper variants out there today, but it’s difficult to beat the classic version for time-killing fun. If you’ve never played before, then the game couldn’t be simpler: just click on a space to see whether there’s a mine there. If there is, you lose! If not, you’ll get one or more numbers. Each number represents the number of mines there are on the eight adjacent spaces. You’ll need to use logic to work out where the mines are and flag them, and then eliminate the rest of the board.
