The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening was the first Zelda game to land on a handheld console. A few sacrifices had to be made to cope with the Game Boy’s limited color palette and onboard sound, but the results were spectacular, and the game is beloved by fans of the series. It starts with Link shipwrecked after a horrendous storm. He’s found unconscious on shore by a familiar-looking girl from a local village, and from there he embarks on a dungeon-exploring quest to wake the Wind Fish and escape the island. But first, naturally, he needs to track down his sword and shield!
