You've decided to hit the road and seek adventure and fortune with the only vehicle to your name. Luckily, you've signed up for a service that will send you different car-related challenges so that you can test your driving skills and hopefully make some money from them. You must participate to earn enough to maintain your current car and visit the garage for options. It's a long road to the top, but you have the drive to get there.

Driving is a familiar game mechanic with plenty of series built entirely around driving and the cars you can get. This game is more of a sandbox, but still focuses mainly on vehicles and how you drive. You'll start with a basic model, but it has the potential to get you there, and you must use your driving creatively to beat the challenges. The more you drive, the more familiar you'll become with your car, and then you'll be able to try out different vehicles. Don't forget to improve the ones that got you far, since they can still be excellent on the road.
How to Play
Hotgear is a 3D driving game about an open road and world where you can drive your cars using the keyboard.
Controls
- W/Up Arrow - Accelerate
- S/Down Arrow - Slow Down/Reverse
- A/Left Arrow - Turn Left
- D/Right Arrow - Turn Right
The goal is to drive at your own pace and complete missions as they come up. Your speed will be displayed at the bottom while the mini-map and car health will be in the top right corner. If your car's health hits zero, you'll need to fix it before heading back on the road.
The main menu lets you collect any available rewards and visit the garage, where you can upgrade any cars you own or buy new ones using the cash you've collected. After you pick your car, you can drive in Free Roam at your own pace or select Missions to test your skills. Both options will drop you into a map where you have the freedom to drive anywhere the car can reach. If you're going on a mission, it'll be tracked on your map and score you based on speed, car condition, and turnaround. The faster and safer you get your car to the mission destination, the more money you'll earn. Keep driving fast to get faster.
Tips and Tricks
When you start driving, you'll notice that the car feels slightly lighter than expected. This will let it build speed quickly, making it more challenging to control in tighter spaces, which can lead to crashes. The mini-map can help you by outlining the road, but it's best to practice and take the turns as they come so you can preserve your car.
